The EU Tax Exemption – Checkout app allows EU B2B customers to validate their VAT number directly in checkout and automatically applies VAT exemption where applicable.

This version is designed exclusively for Shopify Plus stores.

Requirements

Before installing, make sure:

  • Your store is on Shopify Plus

  • Checkout extensibility is enabled

  • You sell to EU customers

  • VAT is configured in Shopify

⚠️ This app will not work on non-Plus plans.

How it works (high-level)

  1. Customer reaches checkout

  2. VAT validation block appears in checkout

  3. Customer enters VAT number

  4. VAT is validated via EU VIES

  5. If valid:

    • Customer is marked as tax exempt

    • VAT is removed immediately

  6. Customer completes checkout with correct totals

No Draft Orders.
No cart redirects.
Everything happens in checkout.
