Step 1 – Add the App to Your Theme

To use the EU Tax Exemption App, the VAT validation form must be added to your theme.
How you do this depends on how your cart is implemented.

There are two possible setups:

1. Dedicated cart page

2. Cart drawer (slide-out cart)

Cart Page (standard setup)

If your store uses a dedicated cart page (/cart), you can add the app directly via the Shopify Theme Editor.

How to add the app to the cart page

1. Go to Online Store → Themes

2. Click Customize on your active theme

3. Navigate to the Cart page

4. Open the Apps section

5. Add OO – EU Tax Exemption

This will render the VAT validation form on the cart page.

Cart Drawer (slide-out cart) – manual code setup required

If your theme uses a cart drawer (also called a slide-out cart or mini cart), the app cannot be added via the Theme Editor alone.

In this case, the app must be added manually in the theme code.

⚠️ Important
The Shopify Theme Editor does not support adding app blocks directly inside a cart drawer.
This is a Shopify limitation, not a theme or app issue.
