Overview

Order limits stop a purchase that does not meet a minimum or maximum. Use them for minimum order quantities and purchase caps. They do not change the displayed price.

Order limits are included in Growth. Turn the module on under Order management.

What a rule can check

Each rule targets products or collections, then checks one of these:

  • Order total, product, or variant โ€” what the limit applies to.

  • Quantity โ€” a minimum or maximum number of units.

  • Increment โ€” quantities must be bought in steps, such as multiples of 6.

  • Amount โ€” a minimum or maximum order value.

  • Weight โ€” total kilograms from line weight times quantity.

When a cart breaks a rule, the customer sees a popup. The default title is โ€œCannot place orderโ€. You can change the title, description, and button under Order limits โ†’ Settings, including per language.

Set it up

  1. Open Order management and turn Order limits on.

  2. Create a rule, choose the products or collections, and set the type and scope.

  3. Leave the rule On and save.

  4. Open Finish setup and enable the app embed in the active theme. The embed loads the check on product, cart, and checkout pages.

Check it

Add a quantity or amount that breaks the rule and try to continue. The popup should appear and checkout should stay blocked until the cart is valid. If the popup never appears, confirm the embed is on the published theme and the product is inside an active rule.
