Market-specific translations
Use Across markets translations or Adapt a market overrides for region-specific copy.

Shopify Markets let the same language differ by region — for example British English vs American English, or French for France vs Canada. OO Translations supports both shared language translations and market-specific adaptations.
Two translation contexts
Across markets — one translation for a language, used wherever that language is published. This is the default shop-level locale translation.
Adapt a market — overrides for a specific market and language. Use this when wording, spelling, currency mentions, or legal copy should differ for that market.
How inheritance works
In Adapt a market, fields without an override show the Across markets translation for that language (when one exists). Editing and saving a field creates a market override. Until you override a field, shoppers in that market still see the shared language translation.
Create a market adaptation
Open Translate.
Open the context picker (language / market control at the top).
Under Adapt a market, choose the market, then the language for that market.
Select content and edit fields that should differ for the market.
Save. Those fields become market-specific overrides and are locked from automatic jobs like other manual saves.
Translate across markets instead
Open the context picker.
Choose Translate across markets and pick a language.
Translate as usual. These values are the base for every market unless a market override exists.
Tips
Start with Across markets for the bulk of your catalog, then adapt only the markets that need different copy.
Markets appear in the picker after they are set up in Shopify admin (including web presence / domains where relevant).
Locks, backups, and jobs respect the market context: a lock or backup entry for one market does not automatically apply to another.
On job details, market context shows either a specific adapted market or “Across all markets”.
