Import customers from CSV

Update or create customers from a Shopify-compatible CSV.

Import a CSV to update existing customers or create new ones (for example from another shop’s Shopify export).

Steps

  1. Open Customers in the app and click Import.

  2. Upload a .csv file.

  3. Click Import customers.

  4. Review the success or error message. Partial failures list the first Shopify errors.

How matching works

  1. If Customer ID exists in this store, that customer is updated.

  2. Otherwise, the app looks up the customer by Email.

  3. If still not found, a new customer is created (email or phone is required).

This means a Shopify CSV from another store can be imported: foreign Customer IDs are ignored when they don’t exist, and customers are created or matched by email.

Empty cells

Empty CSV cells are left unchanged on updates. Only filled cells are applied.

Supported formats

  • This app’s own export CSV

  • Shopify’s standard customer export CSV (headers such as First Name, Email, Accepts Email Marketing, Default Address …)

Marketing values

Yes/no style values in Shopify CSVs are mapped to marketing states (for example yes → subscribed, no → unsubscribed).
