Premium feature

The product customizer is available on the Premium plan. It overlays customer input (text, numbers, fonts, files) on a product canvas so shoppers see a live preview before they add to cart.

What it does

You place one or more placements on a background image (or product visual). Each placement is linked to a calculator field, for example:

• Engraving text from a Text field
• A Font picker selection
• An uploaded logo from File upload

Customers see the result update as they type or choose options. Generated preview images can also appear on cart lines when the app embed is enabled.

Where to configure it

1. Open a calculator in the Calculator builder.
2. Go to the Product preview step.
3. Open the Customizer editor.
4. Set a background / base image.
5. Add placements and link them to fields.
6. Adjust position, size, crop, and (where available) 3D/text styling.
7. Save and test on a product that uses this calculator.

Best practices

• Design placements for the final print area; leave safe margins.
• Use placeholder copy that matches real customer input length.
• Translate customizer placeholders if you sell in multiple languages.
• Test on mobile — preview space is tighter than desktop.
• Pair with option images only when you need both a gallery swap and an overlay canvas.
