Translations

The VAT Text Settings page allows you to manage the customer-facing texts shown during VAT validation in checkout.
These texts are displayed per language and are used only for checkout messaging.
How translations work
Each language tab (e.g. German, English, French, Dutch) contains the VAT-related texts for that specific language.
Texts are resolved in the following order:
Saved translations (per language)
Default app texts
Locale placeholders (shown in the input fields)
If a field is left empty, the app automatically uses the next available fallback.
Initial state
All translation fields are empty by default
Empty fields mean no override, not โno textโ
The placeholder text shows the default value used by the app
To store translations permanently, they must be explicitly saved.
Saving translations
Translations are only stored when you click Save translation.
Recommended workflow:
Select a language tab
Review or adjust the texts
Click Save translation
What you can translate
You can translate all VAT-related checkout texts, including:
Titles and optional titles
Input placeholders
Button text
Success and error messages
Country-specific VAT messages
Required VAT warnings
Acknowledgement text
When to use translations
Use translations if:
Your checkout is multilingual
You want VAT messages in the customerโs language
You need localized VAT terminology
If you only want to change wording (not language), use the General Text Settings instead.
Notes
Translations do not affect VAT validation logic
Translations do not affect pricing or tax calculation
They only control what customers see in checkout
Summary
Optional for most stores
Required for multilingual checkout
Empty fields are safe
Always save once if you customize
